2025 Governmental Service Award - James Robinson

2025 Governmental Service Award - James Robinson
It is a privilege to celebrate those whose dedication and service have made a profound impact on our community. The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the Governmental Service Award—an honor reserved for individuals whose careers and contributions have helped shape public policy, advance civic engagement, and uplift our county through their leadership and public service.
This year’s recipient embodies all of that—and more. It is our great honor to present the Governmental Service Award to Mr. James Robinson.
Jim Robinson’s legacy in Hunterdon County is one of tireless service, unmatched dedication, and a true heart for community. A Commercial Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker in Flemington, Jim brings not only professionalism to the table—but decades of experience in government, public service, and nonprofit leadership.
Before entering the world of real estate, Jim served as the Public Affairs Manager for CenturyLink, where he led public, community, and government relations across New Jersey for the telecommunications company. But his work in public service extends far beyond any one title.
In the 1980s, Jim served as Chief of Staff to Assembly Speaker Alan Karcher, and he has continued to be deeply involved in both local and county government—serving on a Planning Board and Board of Education, always focused on advancing the best interests of our communities.
Jim is also the longest-serving board member of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, a past Chairman of the Chamber, and the first Chair of the Chamber’s Foundation, where he helped launch and support efforts focused on leadership, education, and workforce development.
Beyond the Chamber, Jim has given his time and heart to more nonprofit boards than we can name in one breath—including One on One Volunteer Guardianship, Hunterdon Helpline, SAFE in Hunterdon, Anderson House, the Hunterdon Art Museum, Prevention Resources, Crime Stoppers, United Way, North Hunterdon Rotary, and BW NICE—just to name a few. He even served as Chairman of the March of Dimes Walk America, and currently sits on the Board of the Drumthwacket Foundation, which oversees the Governor’s Mansion in Princeton.
Jim has been named Hunterdon County Man of the Year by the YMCA, and has received accolades from Hunterdon Hispanos, the Center for Educational Advancement, and the Chabad of Hunterdon County for his ongoing community service.
But perhaps what speaks most to Jim’s character is what he does quietly, without seeking recognition. He has traveled to the Dominican Republic more than 20 times, where he’s supported a family of 14 and provided humanitarian outreach. And in 2010, Jim made one of the most meaningful commitments of all—adopting his son Antony, a Kenyan native. Today, he beams with pride over his four beloved grandchildren.
Jim Robinson is a man who has led with integrity, compassion, and a profound sense of duty—not just in government, but in every corner of civic life.
On behalf of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, please join me in celebrating a lifetime of service, leadership, and heart.
Congratulations to our 2025 Governmental Service Award recipient, Mr. James Robinson!
